My story is deep.
The strength I drew upon to keep going, then still unknown to me, has made me who I am today: independent, strong, driven, and above all, a true joy of life.
My story goes far.
We left Iraq with 4 million Kurds. For hours, days, and weeks, we walked with children and elderly people through all kinds of weather, until we finally reached the border and saw our light at the end of the tunnel. Once I arrived in Iran, I tried to make it, but as a woman and single, it wasn't easy. Through connections, I ended up in Russia, where I was staying illegally. Eventually, I obtained a Canadian visa and was able to continue my journey. As a transit passenger, I ended up in Belgium, and there my endless journey ended. I couldn't go on any longer; I was exhausted.
My story is unforgettable.
In Belgium, I started from scratch. I pulled myself together, my children the ones I fought to have back with me. After several years, I had saved enough to finally bring them over together. My daughter and son, who have remained so strong all this time, and of whom I am so proud. Together we now run this B&B, which I am also so proud of. To give people a home, even when they are far from home.
